THE NEIGHBOR’S GRASS is a dance piece that unfolds between two small neighboring gardens, separated by a line. It is a sequence in which established rules are broken by both neighboring parties—a story of clear boundaries that gradually begin to blur.
Through a symbolic and poetic language, accessible especially to young audiences, the work invites reflection on human behavior: on the desire to dominate and overpower others, which inevitably gives rise to anger and loss. Every action triggers a reaction; every gesture made to satisfy one’s own desires, without regard for the other, carries consequences that leave permanent marks.
There is no single culprit: everyone is a prisoner of their own desire to win. Only by taking a step back does a space for encounter open up—a space where balance and a sense of liberating empathy can be rediscovered.
THE NEIGHBOR’S GRASS is the final chapter of a trilogy on boundaries by Teatrodistinto, which began with KISH KUSH and continued with SOLITARIUM. The trilogy explores the theme of borders in its many meanings: cultural, emotional, and social.
